Office of Career Services

The professionals in the UCLA Law Office of Career Services offer deep experience in career counseling and placement, as well as decades of practice in private law firms and in-house counsel settings. They have built invaluable relationships with alumni and employers around the country and the world.

The office offers career counseling, special panel discussions on specific areas of law and legal markets, On-Campus Interviews, job and clerkship databases and a resource library to support students, alumni and employers.

Professional Staff

Elizabeth C. Moeller
Assistant Dean of Career Services

A member of the Office of Career Services since 1996, Assistant Dean Moeller practiced law at the Los Angeles offices of Graham & James and Pepper Hamilton & Scheetz. Her duties include administration; counseling students and alumni; maintaining and establishing relationships with legal employers; acting as a liaison between students, alumni and employers; and facilitating relationships between the faculty and Office of Career Services. Beth earned her B.A. from the University of Michigan and her J.D. from Loyola Law School.


Katherine Eklund
Senior Director

Katherine (Kate) has been a member of the Career Services team since 2013.  Prior to joining UCLA Law, Kate was a career advisor at another Southern California law school and a litigation associate at the Los Angeles office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy. She counsels students and alumni; maintains and establishes relationships with legal employers; acts as a liaison between students, alumni and employers; organizes and presents career-related programs; and helps with administration of the office. She received her B.A. in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Michigan and her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.


Yvonne D. Denenny
Director, Career Services

A member the Office of Career Services since 2003, Yvonne previously served as a career counselor at another Los Angeles law school. She practiced law for six years, initially at the Los Angeles office of Morrison & Foerster and then at a start-up internet company. She received her B.A. in economics from Wellesley College and her J.D. from UCLA School of Law. Yvonne assists with the day-to-day management of the office; counseling students and alumni; overseeing, organizing and presenting career-related programs; maintaining and establishing relationships with legal employers; and acting as a liaison between students, alumni and employers.


Lisa Bossetti Barash
Director of Judicial Clerkships

Before joining UCLA Law, Lisa practiced in the corporate bankruptcy department at O'Melveny & Myers' Los Angeles office and clerked for Magistrate Judge Charles F. Eick in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Lisa counsels students and alumni pursuing judicial clerkships; organizes and presents career-related programs; maintains and establishes relationships with judges; and assists students with the judicial clerkship application process.​ She received her Bachelor's degree in Sociology from UC Berkeley and her J.D. from UCLA School of Law.


Gary Greener
Associate Director; Alumni Career Counselor

Prior to joining UCLA Law, Gary worked as a career services professional for 14 years at another Los Angeles law school. He also has ten years of experience as a practicing lawyer, and served as the hiring partner for a 50-lawyer law firm. Gary counsels alumni and students on all aspects of career development and the job search process. He also interacts with employers and engages in outreach to increase job opportunities for UCLA Law alumni and students.  He holds a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University, a J.D. from Southwestern Law School, and an LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center.


Araby Abaya
Assistant Director of Employer Relations

Prior to joining UCLA, Araby was a litigation associate at a large New York firm where he specialized in securities law. He initiates and strengthens relationships with prospective and current employers to expand opportunities for students and recent graduates. Araby holds his B.A. from University of Wisconsin, Madison, and his J.D. from Fordham School of Law.


Claire O’Connor
Assistant Director of Career Services

Prior to joining UCLA, Claire practiced law for over a decade at the Natural Resources Defense Council. She is responsible for counseling students; organizing and presenting career-related programs; maintaining and establishing relationships with legal employers; and acting as a liaison between students, alumni, and employers. She received her B.A. in Political Science and Economics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.


Mishkah Ismail
Assistant Director

Before joining UCLA Law, Mishkah served as director of business development for two different legal recruiting firms, and most recently she served as interim director and associate director of career development at Whittier Law School. She is responsible for counseling students and alumni; organizing and presenting career-related programs; maintaining and establishing relationships with legal employers; and acting as a liaison between students, alumni and employers. She received her B.A. from Williams College and her J.D. from Berkeley School of Law.


Tara McCarney
Assistant Director of Career Services, LL.M. Programs

Prior to joining UCLA Law, Tara practiced law as an associate at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft in New York, and Latham & Watkins in Los Angeles.  Tara advises LL.M. students, maintains relationships with legal employers, and manages programming for LL.M.s.  She received her B.A. from Dartmouth College, M.Ed. from Harvard Graduate School of Education, and J.D. from Fordham University School of Law.


Andrea Monos
Assistant Director of Career Services, LL.M. Programs

Andrea Monos advises LL.M. students on career development and works with prospective and current employers on creating and expanding opportunities for UCLA LL.M.s. Before joining UCLA, Andrea practiced litigation and transactional law at Irell & Manella LLP, and she clerked for the Honorable Christina A. Snyder and the Honorable Jean P. Rosenbluth in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Andrea earned her J.D. from UCLA and her B.A. in French literature from UCSB.


Catherine Zingale
Assistant Director of Career Services; Alumni Career Counselor

Catherine has extensive experience both as a lawyer and as a law school career advisor. Catherine counsels alumni, maintains and establishes relationships with legal employers, organizes and presents career-related programs, and develops opportunities for graduates. She holds a B.A. from Eastern Illinois University and a J.D. from University of San Diego School of Law.​


Carmen Torres
Manager of Legal Recruiting

Carmen is responsible for the coordination of the On-Campus Interview Program and all related recruiting activities, including job fairs and receptions. She plans and coordinates all aspects of the annual Small/Mid-Sized Law Firm Reception, the annual government reception for local, state and federal agencies and two mock interview programs for students in their first and second years.


Dylan McGrath
Judicial Clerkship Coordinator

Dylan works closely with Kerry O’Neill in supporting UCLA students and graduates in navigating the judicial clerkship application process. He is also wearing many other hats in helping students and the entire team on additional programs and projects. Previously, Dylan held various roles in advertising and entertainment, including as an executive assistant, an analyst, and a media digitizer.


Ilene Goldberg
Offsite Advisor, Career Services

Ilene is an attorney with significant experience practicing in law firms and in-house legal departments. Prior to joining UCLA, Ilene was a litigator at a large Los Angeles law firm and then a boutique firm before she became in-house counsel at two major entertainment companies as the VP of Legal and Business Affairs after which she opened her own consulting company. She previously served on the NMPA’s Antipiracy Task Force, was the Treasurer and Board of Director of a national copyright non-profit, and she is a Board Member of an international non-profit, and an Approved Fee Arbitrator for the State Bar of California. Ilene provides career counseling advice to students and alumni, helps prepare students for interviews, and has assisted students with the judicial clerkship application process. Ilene studied at Université de Provence à Aix Marseille, received her B.A. with an Adjunct in Management from Binghamton University, State University of New York, a J.D. from UCLA School of Law, and she is a graduate of the Executive Program at UCLA Anderson School of Management.


Mark R. Winston
Offsite Advisor, Career Services

Mark joined the Office of Career Services in 2023 and advises UCLA students and alumni in regard to their careers.  Prior to coming to UCLA, Mark held such positions as law clerk for state appellate and federal district court judges, Assistant U.S. Attorney, Assistant General Counsel at the F.B.I., and partner at large and mid-size corporate law firms.  Mark received his bachelor's degree from the University of Chicago and his law degree from Case Western Reserve University.


Margot Vanyan
Career Services Assistant
Margot is the first face of the office and helps students, alumni, employers, and the entire OCS team. Margot received her Bachelor’s Degree in Government and Environmental Policy from William & Mary.
