Several members of the UCLA School of Law Class of 2013 returned to campus on April 10 to share with current students their perspectives on working in entertainment law, in the second annual Five Years Out program sponsored by the Ziffren Center on Media, Entertainment, Technology and Sports Law.

Panelists included Audrey Benoualid, a music associate at boutique firm Myman Greenspan Fox Rosenberg Mobasser Younger & Light; James Hill, a business and entertainment litigation attorney at Greenberg Glusker; John Meller, an associate at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips; Adrienne Platts, senior counsel at NBCUniversal; and Christina Tajalli, counsel at Skydance Media.

Many of the panelists emphasized that those looking to enter the competitive field make the most of their networking and relationships, advising that students may not know where their next connection comes from—even from across the negotiating table. The panelists also shared ideas on what they would have done differently in law school to better prepare for practice. As the sole LL.M. on the panel, Benoualid gave a unique perspective and tips for the LL.M students in attendance. Following the event, the Ziffren Center hosted a reception for alumni from the classes of 2012 to 2018, offering a fun and informal venue for current and former entertainment students to build relationships.
