Elizabeth Moeller, the assistant dean of career services at UCLA School of Law, was elected president of the National Association for Law Placement at the organization’s annual meeting in San Diego on April 12.

Before she assumes her role as president, Moeller will serve as the group’s president-elect during the 2019-20 year, working alongside NALP president Georgia Emery Gray, who is the director of legal personnel and recruiting at Cleary Gottlieb.

Moeller has held multiple leadership roles within NALP, an association of more than 2,500 legal career professionals who advise law students, lawyers, law offices and law schools in North America and internationally. She has served as a board member and as the organization’s vice president of member services and education. She has also served on several committees, including work as chair of the nominating committee and of the planning committee for NALP’s annual education conference.

As UCLA Law’s assistant dean of career services, Moeller is responsible for the overall administration of the office; counseling of students and alumni; maintaining and establishing relationships with legal employers; acting as a liaison between students, alumni and employers; and managing a team of professionals who help students with their career and professional development.

Moeller joined UCLA Law in 1996 after practicing law at Graham & James and Pepper Hamilton & Scheetz. Under her leadership, UCLA Law has experienced tremendous growth in its approach to career services. She has developed innovative measures that respond to changes in the legal job market and expand the reach of the law school to connect students and alumni with leading employers.

Moeller earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and her J.D. from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles.
