Lecturer in Law
Roza Patterson is lecturer in law at UCLA School of Law and teaches Legal Analysis, Writing, and Research for LL.M students. She previously taught law classes at UC Davis School of Law as an adjunct lecturer.
Patterson currently works at the California Department of Justice as a Deputy Attorney General in the Employment Law Section. Prior to joining the DOJ, Patterson worked as at the international law firm of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe where she practiced employment law and litigated pro bono cases. In 2021, Patterson was one of five attorneys to be selected for Orrick’s Racial, Social, and Economic Justice Fellowship. As a Racial Justice fellow, Patterson worked at the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley, the largest provider of free legal services in Santa Clara County, providing pro bono services on housing related issues to individuals and families in Santa Clara County.
Patterson received her B.A. degrees summa cum laude in Communications, Political Science, and Human Rights from Southern Methodist University, her M.S. degree in Human Rights from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and her J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law.
Patterson’s publication on Black migrants and refugees has appeared in the UCLA Journal of International Law and Foreign Affairs.
