Appellate Advocacy: Introduction to Moot Court Competitions

This course is designed for students who are interested in appellate advocacy. The course will provide instruction regarding effective brief writing and oral advocacy in the appellate and moot court competition context. The course will also provide training and support for students participating in internal moot court competitions. Students will be required to prepare for and participate in at least two practice rounds as an advocate and at least two practice rounds as a judge. Students must be participating for the first time (either as 2Ls or 3Ls) in the fall moot court internal competition to enroll in the course. Enrollment in this course is on a by-application basis, based on the student’s LRW grade, participation in the Skye Donald 1L Moot Court competition, and overall expressed interest in moot court.
